Wow. It's been about a month since I last blogged. It seems longer, but it's only been the month. I'll start right in again with Thursday Thrift. I'm too lazy to cursor my way to what I was blogging about, money-wise, this time last year, but I'm pretty sure I yapped about budgets.
So, yeah, I made up a budget at the beginning of the year. Used it for a couple of months. And then that was that. I'm thinking this year to just focus on one part of the budget. I won't undo the budget set up in Quicken; that's set up already so every time I enter income/expenses they'll just continue to post to the right categories. And there are a lot of categories. I think this year I'll focus on one category and see what I can do with it. Which category?
Groceries.
I refuse - adamantly! - to admit how much we spend on groceries, but every week I think anew, Damn, that's a big dollar amount. There are small families (families with a small number of members, not families with small members; for some reason, I felt I needed to clear that up) who spend less than we do. And it just seems so wrong. So, yes, my Thursday Thrift resolution for 2010 is to decrease the cost of groceries. We'll see how that goes.
Uh-Oh, looks like kitty found out what happened during your mall trip! LOL. On a serious note, according to a site I read a few days back, setting your budget for longer-terms saves you a lot more than when you set a budget for a smaller time period. I haven't tried it yet, though.
