And that was the whole point behind getting busted. I worked out w/Mike the Trainer Guy tonight. The last time I worked out with him was September 3rd -- 26 days ago. In that time, I had the flu, I had a breast biopsy and Mike went to Italy. So I was out of commission for a bit due to the flu and the biopsy, but I certainly wasn't out of commission for 26 days. And Mike asks, what, pray tell, did I do workout-wise during those 26 days?
[cricket sounds]
Yup. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Oh, sure, I went for a little walk here and there, e.g., to the carnival a couple of times over Labor Day weekend (where I ate zeppoles and funnel cakes), but that's about it.
So tonight we got back into the swing of things with (let's see what I can remember and these aren't in any particular order and most were multiple sets):
- shadow boxing - seems I do better when Mike wears the mitts and I hit them v. just swinging away at nothing; I think it just feels more natural actually hitting something (bc, you know, I do that kind of thing all the time)
- jumping jacks
- crunches w/weights
- dips
- lunges (oooooooooooh I feel this already)
- bicep curls w/the long bar
- presses w/the long bar
- something else w/the long bar that I forget the name
- on and off that damn bosu ball
- Superman!
So it was a good workout for getting back into things. The weights did feel a little heavy tonight...hope to get past that soon.
Another thing I did not do for 26 whole days is write down what I eat. I really find accountability is key. I just stopped tracking it once I knew I wasn't going to see Mike for a couple of weeks...it's not like I'm going to read him two weeks worth of eats...so why bother tracking that whole time? There is some logic to that...but it's subversive (as an aside, that's a really good word. It sounds good: subsersive. Say it with me: subverrrrrsive.).
Sooooooo, back at it, working out with MtTG a couple of times/week and planning activity on at least 3 other days. Of course, the eats journal. I started another blog to track this stuff so that I can do it from anywhere in the world. But it's a private blog bc I don't want my transgressions (miniature Reese's peanut butter cups anyone?) out there for all the world to see. I'm self-critical enough for all of us...all 7 billion of us in the world. The world can safely leave self-criticism to me.
