It was an act of pure naivete, buying the biggest Slumberball available. Most of the cats love snuggling with other cats. Except Nosey, who doesn't snuggle with anyone, even people. He just likes to be very near people. Except Slim, too, bc he wasn't a cat person either; he snuggled with us, though. And Dolly and Clara don't snuggle with each other bc the latter intimidates the former. They do snuggle with other cats, though.
Anyway, for the most part, I thought the cats - at the time that was five cats - would enjoy piling up on a Slumberball in some combination or other. Not all four at once, bc that would entail Dolly and Clara co-existing peacefully within a coupla feet of each other. I still hold out hope that they will achieve a peace of some sort in their time...but such a glorious event hasn't happened yet. Still, I thought, 'The kitties can pile up together on this! They'll love it!'
Pictured is a rare occurrence of three cats on the Slumberball. Most often, there's only one cat there: usually Dolly or Nosey. Clara will join Smudge there, sometimes; Clara doesn't come up-upstairs as often as the others. In this picture, Dolly's just joined Smudge and Nosey. Nosey seems quite unsure about this development. Smudge is pretty easygoing; he'll snuggle with anyone that wants to snuggle with him. When Archie was alive, The Originals did enjoy snuggling together, including on the Slumberball.
The next picture shows Dolly and Nosey are almost touching. They're just millimeters away from actually touching. Nosey pretty much doesn't do touching with other cats. In the six years he's been here, I've only seen him touch up against another cat a handful of times. It's always been bc he was already settled in and asnooze when the offending cat settled down within the red zone. In this case, Dolly bravely stood up to Nosey's accusatory gaze and claimed her rightful spot on the Slumberball.
