Just saw Smudgie off. Kevin's bringing him (and his food for the week) to the radiology joint to get radioactive iodine treatment for his hyperthyroidism. He is not a happy cat here in his carrier. Poor boy. Little does he know it's gonna get worse than just a little car ride. I don't think the treatment is all that traumatic; I think staying there until Friday - when his radioactive levels are low enough to bring him home - will be more traumatic for him. At least at first. He'll probably start to settle into a routine there after the first coupla days.
I wonder how the staff there cares for him. Do they have to dress protectively? I would think so. Do they only have time to give the cats minimal care? Though he'll be nervous, I'm sure Smudgie would welcome some good lovin' and scritches on his cheeks, chin and ears. He likes a scritch by the base of his tail, too; he'll usually flop down and offer up his belly for a belly rub.
.
And what a lovely belly it is!
