It's my understanding that FIV causes rotting, weakened teeth and discoloration of the gums. FIV's also reasonably communicable, if I remember correctly, so it may be a good idea to keep this cat away from your others until you're sure that nothing contagious is going 'round over there. Thanks for your input. Since this post, her tests for FIV and feline leukemia came back negative. I don't know how good those tests are, though...I'll have to ask about that. And I don't know about FIP...if that test was part of the lab work...I'll have to remember to ask Dr. Slade.

We are still keeping her separate from the others until we have a more complete idea of what her problem is. If she's terminal and doesn't have long, we won't mingle her in w/the others...I don't want to stress her unnecessarily.

I'll continue to post updates to her saga, so stay tuned!
