Friday Cat Blogging: In Fine Fettle
Eddie seemed to be getting the better of Clara for some time now. I thought maybe she was just getting older and slower to react. She seems to have regained her form lately. I wonder if it was bc her teeth were hurting her and now that she's had a bunch of them pulled, she feels better in general and can return to her usual MO of Felis silvestris catus grumpus. One of her nicknames is 'Pickles' bc she often looks like she must have been weaned on a pickle to put on such a sour face.
I'm glad she's got her mojo back. It's true that she did heckle Edison when he was just a lad and she was a bit heavy-handed about it. Now that he's a big, strong, healthy boy he's turned the tables on her. I didn't like seeing her run away from him. I don't mind them working things out between themselves, but I don't like when it's very one-sided.
Things seem more evenly matched again. Sometimes Nosey comes to Edison's aid and they double-team her. She's outmatched then. But I have seen her back in her groove and Edison back in the role of cowering pipsqueak.
She's also been more active and playful, so I think she's feeling better ove
rall.
Clara is a little rough around the edges, but one must remember that she is a fomer feral cat. She's come a long way since she's been with us. So what if it's been 8 years and I can still only pet her on her head when she feels up to it? No matter how friendly and lovey a cat is, affection is always at their discretion. Heck, everything is at their discretion. And that's the way it should be.
